Rolled 585/1000 ( 14 karat) gold is a plating process where a thick layer of 585/1000 (14 karat) gold is mechanically applied to a base metal, such as brass or bronze.

This layer of gold must represent at least 1/20th (or approximately 5%) of the total weight of the metal of the item, covering all significant surfaces of the jewel.

A piece of rolled gold jewelry is therefore particularly durable, resistant to everyday gestures and to water.
